The term “Gundi” means “well or valley” and “Mane” is home in Kannada. So, GundiMane literally translates to “Home in the Valley”. It belongs to the the Gundi family of 3 brothers, Ganapathi Rao, Vinayaka Rao and Lakshminarayan. It is managed by the elder brother, Ganapathi Rao who stays at the estate along with his wife.
The family owns large piece of land around the Estate and are primarily arecanut growers. Of late, they have also ventured into rubber farming. In addition to this, they grow pepper, cardamom, cashew, coffee, coconut etc in small quantities.
